An archaeological find that was made inside a small cave in Botswana, during 2005, consists of spearheads that are supposed to have been given as an offering to python snakes. These objects are proof that our ancestors in Africa practiced rituals for about 70,000 years, that is, about 30,000 years earlier than suggested by the oldest finds in Europe and Southeast Asia. This sensational discovery reinforces Africa's position as the cradle of all civilizations and changes our understanding of our history. With the find in Botswana, Associate Professor Sheila Coulson of the University of Oslo can now show that known humans, such as: Homo sapiens, have performed advanced rituals in Africa for much longer than previously believed.

The ritual would take place in a small cave where the first archaeologists on the site (in 1990), found the spearheads and noticed two paintings on one side of the cave and a rock with a large number of indentations on the other side. .
